The POA Board has asked Jim Story to find a $1,000,000 reduction for the 2009 budget.
They are considering closing the Sconti restaurant for evening meals on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
They are also considering closing the Wildcat swimming pool for all of 2009 (a $50,000 savings).

Why wasn’t the POA Board able to impose their ¾ % Exit Fee on the residents of Big Canoe? It was because the residents were NOT stampeded into another Sconti type election where we were given only 30 days to decide. More time provided the residents with enough time to investigate the Board’s claims.

According to the Big Canoe POA email, early results show that 3754 votes were cast (out of a possible 5565), and that 1517 voted in favor and 2237 voted against the proposed amendment - roughly a 40% to 60% split.
I was made aware that the POA is meeting on Sept. 9 to quickly pass new guidelines for rentals. This would include getting a permit to rent!! Getting business licenses from the county and God knows what else they have in store for us. I think it is a way to reach into our billfolds [...]
